The seven-year-old SAMANTHA TRUSTFULL from Almere is this year, finally, after her brothers and sisters, at the turn to go on holiday to the adventurous Surinam and her beloved aunt Sjaan. In Paramaribo, she discovers the diverse cultures that Surinam is rich for and she makes friends with the children in the “Vergeet-me-niet-straat”.

SAMMY PARAMARIBO (5x 8 min) is the new and cheerful children’s series by Barbara Bredero and was written by Sabrina Sugiarto. The series is a coproduction of IJswater Films and KRO-NCRV in association with Caribbean Filmcom and The Back Lot, supported by the MEDIAFONDS.

The première of Sammy Paramaribo took place on Saturday, October 17th in Surinam and was made possible by HEM Suriname NV, ABC TV, Brainwaves and the Nederlandse Ambassade (Dutch Embassy). Michel Drenthe was present to represent Caribbean Filmcom.

SAMMY PARAMARIBO experiences its Dutch première on Sunday, October 18th at 11:00 on the 29th edition of Cinekid festival at Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. Vân Doan will represent Caribbean Filmcom in the Netherlands.

SAMMY PARAMARIBO will be broadcast by KRO kindertijd on NPO 3. From Monday October 19th till Friday October 23rd, every day at 7:35 am. In Surinam, the film will be shown on ABC TV.

Cinekid Festival is the largest festival in the world for the screening of children’s films. During the two-week Cinekid festival, more than 60.000 children and their parents discover and experience; special youth films, documentaries and television. They will experience and do a lot in the MediaLab, a unique digital and interactive play and learning garden for children between 4 and 14 years. Cinekid Festival will take place on October 15th till November 1st 2015.
