The 48 Film Project took place globally during the weekend of October 7 through 9, and Curaçao participated for the third consecutive year. Aruba and Bonaire were also invited to participate alongside Curaçao this year.

A total of nine(9) films were written, filmed, edited and delivered on Sunday. Out of these films three(3) were filmmakers from Bonaire and no submissions were received from Aruba. Competition was tight, as participants had to incorporate all three of the following things in their shortfilms: a clothespin, the line “Is that what I think it is?” and also the name Ali/Aliana Martina, whom had to be a writer.

Last night, October 12 2016, the official screening and award show for this year’s participants was held in Teatro Luna blou from 8 to 10 p.m. The public was able to see all the short films of the participating teams and also vote for their favorite film to win the public choice award.

This year the overall winner was “Breathless”, with the awards for Best Music, Best Male Actor, Best Writer, Best Film and also the Audience Award.

The entire Caribbean Filmcom team would like to congratulate their team, and we would especially like to say a big hoorah to Eloise van Wickeren, the scriptwriter for “Breathless”. We’ve worked in close cooperation with Eloise for many years now and know that she is a fantastic writer.

Congratulations, guys. You deserve it!
